The music minor is offered to students who wish to continue studying music while pursuing a different major. The degree includes studies in music theory, history & literature, and ensemble performance with the opportunity to choose music electives that allow each student to customize their course of study. The Music Minor is popular with non-music majors who wish to build upon pre-college music experiences, and also allows students who have no background in music the opportunity to broaden their university experience and engage with creative students and world-class faculty.
The student is to receive permission from the Associate Director of the School of Music and then final approval from the College of Fine Arts Dean’s Office.
Change of Program Policy
Permission must be received from the School of Music Associate Director’s Office.
External Transfer Admission
No requirements beyond University admission requirements and requirements stated above.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
This program is a music minor and is not intended to develop professional musicians. However, in combination with various majors it could lead to employment in the music industry or an arts-related field.
