Program Overview
International Studies is a globally-focused interdisciplinary program that draws courses from different disciplines in the humanities, arts, social sciences, and physical sciences. Students select one regional concentration (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, or Middle East/North Africa) and one transregional theme (Global Communication; International Development and Global Commerce; Health and Development; Arts, Culture, and Society; Global Sustainability and Environmental Literacy; or Security Studies) as areas of specialization. Advanced language study and a study abroad experience are required.
The interdisciplinary nature of the International Studies major is applicable to a wide variety of professions.
*This program was approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education on 8/21/23. It is replacing the following programs: BA4405 - Global Studies - Africa, BA4406 - Global Studies - Asia, BA4407 - Global Studies - Europe, and BA4408 - Global Studies - Latin America.
