Study of intermediate-level ancient texts, typically drawn from Homer and Plato.

Requisites: GK 2110

Learning Outcomes:
  • Ability to attain superior understanding of canonical texts through the original language.
  • Expanded knowledge of Greek morphology, syntax, and vocabulary.
  • Familiarity with and competence in using online Greek language and culture resources, e.g. Thesaurus Linguae Graecae and the Chicago Homer.
  • Further vocabulary acquisition. Some familiarity with advanced grammar resources, for example, H.W. Smyth’s Greek Grammar.
  • Understanding of what the study of Greek language and literature contributes to the student’s general education.
