SOC 4910 - Internship in Sociology, Criminology, and Law


Provides students with professional experience in applied sociology through internships in social service, nonprofit, and community organizations, criminal justice agencies, courts, legal services, advocacy organizations, and other organizational and legal settings. Students apply sociological skills, theories, research methods, and analytical techniques in real-world settings, developing their ability to analyze social structures and professional practices. They engage in professionalization, ethical decision-making, and self-assessment while making connections between academic learning and workplace experiences. Through their internships, students assess their professional growth and explore career pathways in sociology, criminology, and law.

Requisites: Permission required; 6 hours of Sociology courses; Junior or Senior.
Credit Hours: 3 to 9
