INST 4940H - Honors Thesis in International Studies Preparation, writing, and revision of a student-selected research thesis in International Studies. Designed individually for students pursuing departmental honors. Work is undertaken under the supervision of a faculty member.
Requisites: INST major & Permission Required Credit Hours: 1 to 6 OHIO BRICKS: Bridge: Learning and Doing Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 12.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 research Eligible Grades: A-F,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to formulate a comprehensive research question and develop a methodologically appropriate framework to explore and evaluate answers.
- Students will be able to critically engage with existing literature and theoretical frameworks.
- Students will be able to synthesize diverse perspectives to construct a coherent and original argument in international studies.
- Students will be able to apply insights from multiple scholarly disciplines as well as relevant lived experiences to an issue of concern in international studies.
- Students will be able to articulate their original research findings in a manner that complies with scholarly norms and expectations.
- Students will able to communicate how their work addresses global or societal issues of relevance to the general public.
- Students will be able to reflect on their own positionality as both scholars of international studies and as citizens engaged in issues of global concern.
