XLRN 3910 - Student Leadership through Experiential Learning Course develops leadership skills through active engagement and academic exploration. By connecting their experiential learning with academic knowledge, students develop cross-cultural leadership abilities. They adapt and apply problem-solving strategies, communicate effectively across cultures and experiences, and integrate diverse perspectives. Through reflection and self-assessment, students strengthen their leadership identity and gain the skills to navigate a variety of leadership environments. In the process, they take on leadership roles by guiding and supporting others in collaborative settings, applying their knowledge to real-world challenges.
Requisites: Jr or Sr Credit Hours: 1 to 3 OHIO BRICKS: Bridge: Learning and Doing Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 6.0 field experience/internship Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to connect their experiential experiences with academic knowledge and leadership development, recognizing the impact of active engagement on their growth.
- Students will be able to identify and integrate diverse perspectives across disciplines and cultures to enhance their ability to lead in multiple contexts.
- Students will be able to apply leadership skills, problem-solving strategies, and theoretical knowledge from one academic setting to new situations.
- Students will be able to effectively communicate ideas using culturally appropriate language and visual representations that draw on experiential learning to foster shared understanding and collaboration.
- Students will be able to critically reflect on their experiential learning experiences by assessing their evolving leadership identity and using prior experiences to navigate new and challenging environments.
