Program Overview
The Accelerated Graduate Pathway: Electrical and Computer Engineering program provides outstanding students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering while completing some courses towards a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Admissions Information
Students will be eligible to apply for conditional admission to the AGP after completing 68.5 credit hours of courses in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science curriculum; conditionally admitted students will be eligible to enroll in courses after completing 83.5 credit hours in the EECS curriculum.
Application is limited to students who:
- Are enrolled in the Electrical Engineering Major with Computer Engineering Track (B.S.) .
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher or a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 with a GPA of 3.5 or higher in the most recent 30 hours.
- Achieve a grade of ‘C’ or better in the following required junior-level Computer Engineering courses: CS 3000 , CS 3610 , EE 3954 , EE 3613 , EE 3334 , EE 3343 , EE 3713 , EE 3753 , EE 3513 , EE 3214 .*
*Note: While a ‘C’ or better is the required minimum grade for entry into the AGP, no more than six (6) semester hours of grades at B-, C+, or C may be applied toward the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree requirements.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
The Accelerated Graduate Pathway (AGP) program is intended to allow students to take courses towards a graduate degree while enrolled as an undergraduate student. As such, students are expected to pursue graduate coursework upon completion of their undergraduate degree.
Requirements
Students may complete up to 9 hours of graduate-level coursework under the AGP, with up to nine hours applying to the undergraduate degree requirements. The EECS courses available to be taken for dual-credit in the AGP program are all dual-listed engineering technical electives (4XXX/5XXX) as well as any required undergraduate courses that have a corresponding graduate-level version.
Note: the undergraduate program allows senior electives and technical electives to count toward the undergraduate program. Only graduate versions of courses in the senior elective and technical elective categories would count toward the graduate program requirements. 6XXX-level EE or CS courses may be taken before the conferral of a BSCpE. However, for 6XXX-level courses, students are advised to meet with the instructor to review their preparation before registering for the course.
Register for the graduate version (5XXX) of the dual-listed course and it will also count for the undergraduate course (4XXX) in the undergraduate degree requirements.
